Por qué el TOEFL está mejorando el examen mundial de inglés
Durante más de seis décadas, el TOEFL ha establecido el estándar para medir el inglés académico en todo el mundo. En los últimos años, investigaciones intensivas con universidades y estudiantes revelaron áreas en las que la prueba podría mejorar.
Los estudiantes de hoy quieren hacer exámenes en cualquier lugar, con pocas cargas administrativas. También esperan una experiencia de prueba moderna. Y no quieren esperar una semana y media para ver sus resultados.
Mientras tanto, las universidades esperan que los exámenes sean seguros, fiables y accesibles. También quieren asegurarse de que los estudiantes que entran puedan comunicarse con sus compañeros, además de leer libros de texto y escuchar las clases.
Para equilibrar las necesidades de estudiantes e instituciones, estamos introduciendo actualizaciones en el TOEFL que hacen que el examen sea más justo y más amigable para los estudiantes, sin comprometer la calidad ni el rigor.
En este vídeo, Omar Chihane, Director General de TOEFL, ofrece una visión general de las recientes mejoras en TOEFL iBT, el examen mundial de inglés.
A partir de este enero, el TOEFL iBT ha modernizado su diseño, contenido y escala de puntuación, manteniendo al mismo tiempo el rigor académico y la investigación basada en la evidencia en los que las instituciones globales han confiado desde 1964.
Estas actualizaciones incluyen la introducción de una escala de puntuación del 1 al 6, en incrementos de medio punto, con una alineación más intuitiva con el Marco Europeo Común de Referencia para Lenguas, que ahora sirve como estándar global para la competencia en inglés.
El TOEFL también devuelve las puntuaciones a los estudiantes en un plazo de tres días, adaptándose a la competencia individual de cada estudiante en las secciones de Lectura y Escucha, y evaluando habilidades académicas modernas, incluyendo la comunicación con compañeros en el aula.
